Post subject: Overclocking Ati Radeon 9500

I've bougt a Gigabyte Ati Radeon 9500 64MB DDR, and I was interested if it
is possible to overclock it to 9700 model using some kind of software.

If anyone knows somethin' about that please reply to

It all depends how the good the GPU core is at overclocking, and the
most important aspect is cooling! Cool
the better the cooling the more chance of getting higher core/mem
clocks. You should post your question to alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati
will probably get a better response there

I presume this card is not the 9500 pro model?

If its the plain 9500 model, it should have all 8 rendering pipelines just
like the 9500 pro/9700 model (but the 9500 only uses 4 by default).

However, you can search the net to find the software modification and bios
update to the 9500 which enables the other 4 pipelines, effectively giving
you a 9500 pro.

Also, on some 9500 cards you can open the memory bus to 256-bit (it runs
at 128 bit by default) which effectively turns the card into a 9700.
